Trojans bring spyware to your computer

This spyware enters the computer by various means such as adware, the software that displays advertisements on your PC, toolbars, diallers, malware, Trojans, browser hijackers and by reading files found on your hard drive. This spyware and adware is so dangerous and fast in infecting the computer, that there is a whole industry working at combating them.

To help protect your computer from this spyware, and yourself from great personal damage, you have to run internet security software on your machine. This software helps in protecting the computer from invasion of your privacy and any disruption to the functioning of the computer.

Typical adware spyware protection software should be able to locate, isolate and also remove all types of spyware from your computer. It should work on a timed scheduler and as a real time blocking tool and be able to handle any eventuality, including rollback and restore facilities. It should also be able to index the severity of the spyware and adware located on the computer.

Install internet protection software in the computer

It is not possible to actually spot spyware, as unlike a virus, it does not replicate itself. This spyware can enter via downloads or even by clicking pop-up ads.

This is why it is important you install some protective software on your computer. In addition to this, the spyware blocker will also alert you of any dangerous websites you may come across.

You can also tell when spyware enters the computer when you find changes in the functioning of it. These changes may be unexpected – changing of the internet home page, the computer running slowly or pop up ads suddenly appearing frequently.

Dust the computer internally and externally

Now that the software of the computer is cleaned, you have to work at cleaning the computer’s hardware. As computers tend to accumulate dust, keep it clean by dusting it periodically. It is not enough to dust externally; you have to also open and clean the computer with a vacuum cleaner or some dust remover once in a while.

Extensive use of the computer can heat the computer; so ensure that the PC is kept cool at all times. This can be done by keeping the computer in a ventilated area or in an air conditioned room. This not only keeps the computer cool, but also helps in prolonging the life of the computer hardware.

Buy good quality hardware that is compatible with your computer

If you have to buy any hardware for your computer, make sure that you buy quality hardware. It is only if you buy your hardware from reputed companies that you are ensured of receiving technical support if and when required.

Moreover, parts from reputable companies are always well made and are compatible with the other hardware of the computer. There is no point in buying hardware that you will not be able to use.

With all these periodic cleaning up tips for your computer, you will be sure that your computer works to the best of its abilities and serves you for a long time. And with the right internet security tools installed, you need not worry about any hacker accessing the personal information you have stored on your computer.

The computer is today a necessity for everyone, from businessmen, professionals, students, the unemployed and even housewives; everyone has a need for computers. There are basically two types of computers; laptops and personal computers. However whatever the brand and type your computer is, be sure to take proper care of it so that it can serve you longer.

There are things you can do to prolong both the hardware and software of the computer. The software is most vulnerable to viruses, malware and overloading of the computer, this is why it is important to run the defragmenter utility at least once a month.

Once you defragment a computer, you can be sure that all your files are in the right place and in the process you help improve the computer’s speed. It is quite natural that you will be installing and downloading lots of software on your computer.

Use the Disk Cleanup Utility occasionally

And while you install and uninstall software, there are going to be lots of unwanted files remaining in temporary and system folders on the hard-drive. Clean this up by running your Disk Cleanup utility once in a while. This is easy to do; just click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and then finally, Dick Cleanup.

The next thing you have to do to your computer is to scan it for viruses which can make your computer run slower or even not at all. To do this, have a good virus scanner installed such as Norton, McAfee or AVG.

However it is not sufficient to just install a virus scanner; with new viruses emerging on the internet every second, you have to keep updating the virus scanner to ensure it eliminates even these new viruses.

Keep scanning the computer for malware

Next in line in the computer software maintenance is to scan the computer for malware. This malware can be anything from adware and spyware, to Trojan horses. All this malware enters the computer while surfing the internet, without you actually knowing and it can play havoc with your computer.

This spyware is not only dangerous because they may slow down the computer; they also collect vital information you have on your PC without your knowledge. And all this personal information of yours that the spyware detects is reported to its owner.

This means that any bank account information, social security numbers, other such private information and even secret passwords on your computer falls in the hands of this person.
