Travel
There is more than one way to get from A to B, and everyone has their preference. This is an important part of travelling, as each method has its own merits and advantages.
To this end, it might be worth going over some of the options. The experienced traveller probably knows a lot of this already, but it’s never a bad idea to simply be more aware of your options.
Public Transport
Public transport is one of the easier options, as it requires less effort on your side. Public transport allows you to relax, compared to walking or driving.
Additionally, depending on where you want to go, there are plenty of ways to get around. The busiest locations have numerous frequent routes, giving you lots of choice. If you want to go somewhere more rural or remote, however, you may find there is much less.
Furthermore, you should spare a thought for the distance you want to travel. The further away your destination is, the more you can expect to pay in fares. The charges vary from country to country, and even between buses and trains, so some research is always advised.
Personal Vehicles
On the other end of the scale, there is the option to use your own transport. Driving is very common these days, and it’s not without its advantages.
With a car, for instance, you are more or less in complete control. You decide your route and when you leave; essentially, everything is up to you. For people who appreciate their independence or being able to change their plans on a whim, then this is a huge plus.
Likewise, you could also consider the likes of a motorhome. This gives you all the benefits of a car with the home comforts of a caravan or home. Essentially giving you both something to drive and sleep, the motorhome fulfils a lot of travel requirements all by itself.
Furthermore, they aren’t that expensive either; any seasoned traveller will let you in on this; there are some very reasonable motorhome insurance options out there, too. With low running costs, in addition to the money you can potentially save on accommodation, motorhomes are ideal for those who wish to plan ahead and have a great trip on a small budget.
Flights
Aeroplanes and airports are always an option as well. However, unless there is a really cheap offer going, these are generally left to travelling between different countries. Flights that connect to destinations within the country can get you around very quickly, but they are usually more expensive as a result. If you’re not in a major hurry to get somewhere, all the other options listed here are generally cheaper.
That said, when you have to go abroad, planes certainly have the advantage, connecting you to major cities and destinations. This is much cheaper than taking your own car if you’re travelling further afield.
In short, these are only three of the most basic travel options. Most methods will fall into some form of these categories. With additional options like ferries available depending on where you’re going, it’s clear to see the average traveller has many choices to consider.
